Fighting the Troxler Effect

When you are faced with a blinding bright light, you are not only going to be blinded for as long as the light is shining in your eyes, you are also going to be faced with a residual light that is left over which will also blind you for a little while longer. This is called the Troxler effect.

This is something that drivers are at risk of experience when they are driving. Fortunately, the auto-dimming rear-view mirrors have been developed as the answer to this challenge. All it took was adding a few extra components to the mirror.

One very important component in the Auto-Dimming Rear-View Mirrors is the electrochromic gel which is charged by the processor in the mirror. The processor is connected to the two sensors which detect the lights from the oncoming vehicle. They all work together to reduce the reflection of light.
