Overview of BMW i Models

With characteristic innovation and design, BMW's entries into the electric vehicle class are two popular luxury options, each with their own particular aesthetic. The i3 features solid construction and conservative styling, while the i8 offers drivers the sporty appearance and road handling they expect from a high-performance car.

Both models feature a carbon fiber frame that provides strength similar to steel while reducing weight by up to 50 percent. Construction of the interior includes sustainably sourced components like eucalyptus wood and upholstery dyed with natural extracts. The production plants making these cars also draw power from renewable sources like wind and solar power.

The i3 is a two-door hatchback with rear-wheel drive and a battery pack mounted under the floor. It has a range of over 100 miles on a full charge. The BMW i8 comes in a coupe or roadster option and offers a 143-horsepower hybrid engine and a battery range of up to 24 miles.
