The First Ever Winner of the World Urban Car Award is the BMW i3

There's a first time for everything, and this year was the first time that the World Urban Car Award was given out at the New York International Auto Show. And the winner? None other than the new BMW i3. Seattle drivers who have been waiting for a luxurious electric car need not wait any longer.

BMW continues to raise the electric-car bar, and is gaining recognition for doing so. In fact, one of the reasons it won the inaugural World Urban Car Award was because of its size. Built primarily of carbon-fiber, the first all-electric vehicle with this type of construction, the i3 is small enough to perfectly navigate narrow city streets and parking spots.

The reality is that the new i3 can fit in anywhere. Because it offers a battery capacity increase of 50% over previous model years, it extends its mileage range further than ever before. It may be electric, but it's all BMW. The electric motor pumps out 170 horsepower, which translates to a 0 to 60 mph time of a little over seven seconds.

Have yourself an eco-conscious, yet luxurious drive in the World Urban Car Award winning BMW i3. Check out our new BMW inventory, and come into BMW Seattle for a test drive!
